Hey guys! Just thought I'd write a quick recap on my first day working on the Nike Spike Bus!

On Tuesday (4/6) we were out at Icahn Stadium with the Spike Bus, working with high schoolers that went to the track for practice that day. It was a perfect day, the weather was great and the kids that came to the bus definitely had a good time checking out all the cool features the bus has to offer. As the season goes on these afternoon practices are going to have more and more kids and I foresee a lot of fun! It was really cool to finally see the Spike Bus in action, and having it all set up and working made it a lot easier to see all the fun things it has to offer. The overall setup is pretty spectacular and it's pretty big... Bigger than I imagined. When I was first told that I would be working on a souped up school bus, I never imagined it would be this big or cool. A side portion of the bus drops down and becomes bleachers with a area that kids can change out their spikes for neat colorful ones. Inside the bus there is a sitting area that kids can relax in while checking out the sweet plasma TV that displays nikeid.nike.com. The kids can literally customize their own shoes on the plasma, and it was pretty neat to see some of the stuff they came up with. Over on the opposite side of the bus, kids have the opportunity to use the bus's gear customization area to pick out graphics and press them on shirts and bags that they purchase. This is probably my favorite area on the bus, as it is really fun to design a shirt that is truly your own creation. Besides the three many areas of the bus, there are so many small details that are fun to notice and check out. I won't give them all away on here, because you'll just have to check it out for yourself... But I will say that this bus is customized to the max, from the floor to the ceiling!

I don't remember seeing anything like the Nike Spike Bus when I was in high school, and I can admit to being a little bit jealous that high schoolers in the northeast get a chance to experience something as cool as this! But, better late then never, I am now working on this uber cool project!

I'm getting really excited for the season ahead! Tomorrow we head to Icahn Stadium for the first day of Mayors Cup Meet! We'll be there on Saturday as well, so make sure to stop over! Julia Read more: http://www.runnerspace.com/blogs.php?do=view&blog_id=2315#ixzz0kXsKZtYd
